Michael Skubic is an accomplished stained glass artist with a passion for transforming light and colors into breathtaking works of art. Having trained under the guidance of a renowned master stained glass window maker, Tom Medlicott, who has over 50 years of experience crafting in the European-style. He honed his skills, mastering traditional techniques while developing a contemporary style. Now, as the founder of Skubic Studios, Michael creates custom stained glass pieces that blend timeless craftsmanship with innovative design. His work, ranging from intricate windows to bespoke decorative panels & lamps, reflects a commitment to excellence and a vision to illuminate spaces with beauty. Based out of sunny San Diego, CA. Meet the Artisans
Tom Medlicott has been crafting stained glass windows for over 50 years, starting his career in Denver, Colorado then relocating to Malibu and finally ending up in Redlands, California where he lives with his family.
Michael Skubic apprenticed under Tom to learn the craft and now runs his own studio in South Park, San Diego. In his spare time he rock climbs, surfs, swims, cycles & distills whiskey and gin.

Founder & CraftsmanMichael Skubic got his start in the beer game, starting the first nanobrewery in California, Mike Hess Brewing Company, in 2009. He eventually decided that whiskey & gin were more his speed and he started Old Harbor Distilling Co.in 2013.
When Old Harbor partnered with The House of Mason it gave him a lot more free time to explore his creative side. He was always fascinated by stained glass since visiting his grandparents Catholic Church and living in Spain exploring the ancient cathedrals. Lucky for him, his mom was friends with Tom and the rest is history!

Mentor & Master CraftsmanTom has been building stained glass windows & panels since the early 70s. Got his start by refurbishing and repairing church windows in Colorado. He eventually moved on to create his own pieces of stunning stained glass art that is featured all over the United States.
He is prominently featured in many Redland’s Government Buildings and the A.K. Smiley Library.
